Inergy was one of the first companies to develop server-sided Internet applications and subsequently partnered with Sony to develop software for WebTV, a device that could connect to any TV and access the Internet. Inergy wanted a logo that was stylish and fun, but also conveyed technology.
The logo symbol was designed with simple shapes and was drawn in a 3D perspective. The shapes were intended to represent the company initials, "I" and "O".
